On the 16th, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong visited the Fermentation Research Institute of Hanyoungseok Agricultural Corporation located in Jeongeup, Jeonbuk, listened to examples of excellent companies in rural startups and convergence industries, and toured the institute while encouraging on-site officials.

This visit was organized to promote the excellence of traditional Korean liquor ahead of Chuseok and to boost the purchase of traditional liquor gift sets made with domestic agricultural products.

The company visited on this day is an agricultural corporation that produces traditional liquor using rice grown in the Jeonbuk region, and it is establishing a growth model for rural startups by continuously expanding the scale of local agricultural product usage, sales, and the employment of local residents.

Minister Song stated at the event, “We will actively support incubation, investment, and market development so that young people and businesses can find new startup opportunities in rural areas,” adding, “In particular, we plan to intensively foster traditional liquor as a core industry of Korea’s representative K-Food, where local agriculture and culture thrive.”

He added, “I hope that this Chuseok will be a time for many people to gather with their families and enjoy traditional liquor along with food made from our agricultural products.”
