[Bae Jeong-eun, Contributing Reporter, Korea Agricultural Policy Newspaper] In the Gimhae Plain at the lower reaches of the Nakdong River, there are many small hills rising alone in the middle of flat fields. This topography is called "Dokmoe." There are 152 Dokmoe in the northern region of Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do (Dong-eup, Buk-myeon, and Daesan-myeon in Uichang-gu), and persimmon trees grow on about 30 of them, creating a unique landscape. Changwon has a long history of persimmon cultivation. Persimmons appear as a local product of Changwon Dohobu in the *Journal of the Prefecture*, compiled in 1530. This suggests that persimmon farming has been practiced in the Changwon region for a long time. However, the persimmons recorded at that time are presumed to be different from the sweet persimmons of today.
