Development of High-Functionality Sesame and Perilla Seeds

Sesame with lignan content approximately 3 times higher than existing varieties has been developed. A new perilla variety with increased plant-based omega-3 content has also been bred. The Rural Development Administration decided to rapidly distribute these varieties to respond to the consumption trend prioritizing health and expand exports of domestic sesame oil and perilla oil.
