A farmer who was named a ‘Master of Agricultural Technology’ after successfully propagating large-leaf tea trees for the first time in Korea is drawing attention. Jo Hyeon-gon (67), CEO of Dadorak, who cultivates tea in Boseong, South Jeolla Province, secured three mother trees of the large-leaf tea variety 20 years ago and has been increasing the number of trees through cuttings. As a result, he has increased the number to 1,500 trees by 2025 and is preparing to register the variety next year. CEO Jo produced 50 tons of fresh leaves last year from a tea field spanning 99,174 square meters (30,000 pyeong).
