# Getting started

> What The Ag Digest is, what you can read without an account, how the two languages work, and where the newsletter and the Magazine fit in.

The Ag Digest gathers Korean agriculture news and pairs it with market, trade and weather figures, in Korean and English, for the people who buy, sell, grow, regulate or study Korean agricultural products. Most of it is open. This guide says what is where, and what an account or a plan adds.

## What you can read without an account

- **The digest** on the home page: agriculture reporting from Korean outlets, newest first, with each story's headline and summary in both languages. Every article names its outlet and links to the original.
- **The Magazine**: long-form features on Korean crops, producers and food systems. Unlike the digest, these are The Ag Digest's own work.
- **Market**: retail prices for Korean staples from KAMIS, wholesale auction prices by market for about two hundred items, US–Korea agricultural trade, and the US supply backdrop for the grains Korea imports.
- **Weather**: the Korea Meteorological Administration's warnings, observations, soil conditions and solar-term crop risk for the growing regions, all five views free.
- **Intelligence**: topic briefs built from our coverage and the market series.
- **Coffee** and **Beer & Spirits**: the public pages of the two paid desks, and the free calculators in front of them.
- **The newsletter** and this documentation.

## Two languages, one site

Every page exists at `/en` and `/ko`. Switch with the language control in the footer; the same page opens in the other language.

Most articles are written in Korean, and the Korean text is the original. Headlines and summaries appear in both languages for everyone. Reading a whole article in the other language needs a free account, which reads up to 10 translated articles a month; Premium and Team read every article. The translation is machine-made and says so.

Market, weather and trade figures are not translated: the numbers are the same in both editions, and the source's own name for a thing (a market, a grade, a station) appears in Korean beside the English.

## An account

A free account signs in with Google, or with an email address and a password. It adds the monthly allowance of translated articles, a profile with a preferred language, the newsletter and email preferences, and a place to download or delete your data. See [Your account](https://www.theagdigest.com/en/docs/account).

A paid plan opens the rest: the Coffee and Beer & Spirits desks, the auction drill-down and price alerts, a workspace with watchlists, saved scenarios and exports, and the Auction Desk add-on's lot explorer, prices by grade and CSV files. See [Plans and billing](https://www.theagdigest.com/en/docs/plans-and-billing).

## The newsletter

A weekly email with the week's reporting and figures, in your preferred language. Sign up on the [newsletter page](https://www.theagdigest.com/en/newsletter), where past issues are also kept, or tick the box in your profile. Signing up sends a confirmation link; the newsletter starts once you follow it, and every issue carries a one-click way to stop.
